The Elite Seiei Collection
ʺSEIEI“ (pronounced ʺsay-ayʺ) is a Japanese term for the word - Elite.
Seiei is a status symbol and represents the association between elite products and how they were inspired by and built for elite athletes. The Elite Collection represents the fusion of Japanese tradition with advanced technology. This is symbolised and referenced throughout the collection via the unique colourway chosen for this range.
In ancient Japan, the colour purple was associated to the top ranked Shotokutaishi personnel (nobility and first rank members in society). This colour was deemed extremely valuable due to the fact that it was extremely difficult to extract and produce such a colour in ancient times, hence making the association to elite status. In modern times, the Luminescence Yellow represents radiated energy in the Japanese culture. In association with sport and performance, Mizuno saw this as the perfect link and nucleus to express the energy radiated by elite athletes when their overall performance is enhanced when supported by advanced technology.
