The Japan women's national volleyball team or ‘All-Japan women's volleyball team’ is the volleyball national team of Japan, currently ranked 8th by the FIVB (August 2011). The current head coach is Masayoshi Manabe. Their greatest success was at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, when they defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union on the way to the gold medal. They are two-time Olympic gold medalists, and three time gold medalists in the Asian Championships and World Championships.
